Cayman Islands- Roger Ver shared from a live stream at Binance's world headquarters that he had met with Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao to discuss the solvency of the exchange. "I had a nice chat with Binance CEO, CZ about their current situation. He showed me multiple bank statements as well as letters from banks and lawyers. I'm sure that they are solvent and there is nothing to fear."
His statement comes the day after the SEC announced a lawsuit against the crypto exchange for securities violations. Many are speculating that there is currently a massive "exchange run" happening on Binance right now as users are fearful of regulator scrutiny on the platform. Binance is the world's largest crypto exchange and would cause massive disruptions if it were to have any solvency issues.
Many Twitter users were quick to criticize Ver who had made an almost identical statement about now defunct crypto exchange, Mt. Gox, in 2013. His statement was made 7 months before the exchange went under. Some users are speculating on whether this has been intentionally to warn users of potential future problems. Ver's statements have definitely been found to be unnerving by many.
